Frarrier F-41

Custom Catamaran

S/V Sea Joy is a 2007 custom-built performance Farrier F-41 catamaran featuring 4 cabins and 2 heads. The F-41, known as the first ‘two huller’ from the renowned New Zealander sport-trimaran designer Ian Farrier, is designed to be a safe, roomy cruiser, with outstanding speed and handling. Race-winning capability is central to Farrier’s success, without sacrificing interior space, seaworthiness or structural integrity.

The high performance of the F-41 is achieved through the lightweight hull construction techniques and highly efficient rig, areas where Ian Farrier was able to draw on his vast past experience of designing and developing innovative multihulls. The F-41 is essentially a cruiser and will appeal especially to those with experience of Farrier designs who now want to move up to a larger craft with more accommodation and facilities for live-aboard and long passage-making.

A catamaran is often said to be the most efficient form for a craft of this definition when the length gets over 40 ft, and Farrier’s move into catamaran design acknowledges this point. The hulls have a waterline length-to-beam ratio of 11:1, optimizing low wave resistance and internal accommodation space. The bridge-deck clearance is high, increasing towards the stern to reduce pounding and drag on large waves.

The interior of the F – 41 is bright and airy with excellent views all round. All cabins have good ventilation. Sea Joy was built over four (4) years by her first owner and although listed as a 2007, she was actually only launched in 2011. The vessel is built of foam cored FRP with all equipment bought NEW. Auxiliary power is provided by twin NANNI 29 hp. diesels with brand new (2021) Twin Disc SP60 saildrives. She has an extensive array of Raymarine and Garmin electronics, and her mast, rigging, and Mack Pack sails are in like new condition.

She has a dual helm, clear sightlines from both sides, midship dagger boards and an advanced rudder bracket system. Sea Joy’s main salon has new bamboo flooring throughout with custom-built seating. The open space design extends with full view down to the galley, allowing seamless entertaining of guests and food preparation. New cabinetry and countertops throughout with plenty of work surfaces for appliances.

Forward Staterooms have double beds, aft staterooms have single and all have storage compartments and overhead hatches.

Please note that there are a few cosmetic items that are currently being worked on and a few installations (like autopilot and electric winch) that have not yet been completed.

Boat is currently on the hard in Cape Charles, Virginia and can be easily seen by appointment.
